Apple has three basic configurations for the MacBook Pro 16. You can get a starting price of $2,499 for the first model with an M1 Pro chip. It also has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of shared memory. The price goes up from there. High-end: Our tester had the M1 Max, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of memory. The price was $3,499. All-in price: $6,099. Power users who want to go all out can add up to 64GB of RAM and 8 TB of unified memory for $6,099. It costs a lot, but Apple has put a lot of power and battery life into every inch of its MacBook Pro 16.
It has a new battery life
With the MacBook Pro 16, there’s a lot to love. But one thing is truly revolutionary: the battery life. The Pro 16’s battery lasted 22 hours and 32 minutes in our standard battery test. This test uses a macro to make it look like you’re browsing the web in Google Chrome. As far as we can remember, that’s the longest a laptop battery has ever lasted in all of our tests.
It took Dell’s XPS 17 (one of the best large Windows laptops) only six hours and 43 minutes to finish the same test. If you buy a Windows laptop meant to be taken with you, like the Dell XPS 13 or the 13-inch Microsoft Surface Pro X, it will last less than 10 hours. It worked well in real life. It sometimes took an hour of web browsing to drain the battery a little bit. When I used the laptop all day for document editing and online research at work, the battery was below 25%.

It will take a lot of people a few days to finish the Pro 16. Those who charge it every night may never see it fall below a certain level. Owners who use it for video editing or gaming will need to charge it more often. As a result, though, the Pro 16 has a lot of useful battery life in the most demanding apps.
Tests have shown that Apple’s M1 Max chip is good at what it does
Battery life would be great even for the MacBook Pro 16’s least powerful model, but that’s not the one we used to test it out. When we built our Pro 16, we used the full-fat Apple M1 Max chip. It had 10 CPU cores and 32 GPU cores. It had 32GB of memory and a 1TB hard drive when it was put together.
Single-core: 1777, multi-core: 12791. These are the best laptop processor scores we’ve seen so far, and they’re the best we’ve seen so far from a processor. The Dell XPS 17 we tested with an Intel Core i7-11800H processor got a single-core score of 1564 and a multi-core score of 7999.

MSI’s GE76 Raider with an Intel Core i9-11980H processor got a single-core score of 1636 and a multi-core score of 9118, on the other hand. An Apple M1 Max has a big lead in this test. M1 Max did well in other CPU tests, such as Cinebench, Basemark, and Speedometer. During Basemark and Speedometer tests, MSI GE76 Raider took the lead. Dell XPS 17 and other Windows laptops were still behind, though. The Pro 16 did very well in real-world tests.
Three minutes and 32 seconds. The Dell XPS 17 took four minutes and five seconds to do the same thing, but the CPU did it faster. With that said, a few Windows laptops can beat the Pro 16 in this one. How long did Asus’ ROG Strix G15 AMD Advantage Edition take to draw this scene? Three minutes and 19 seconds, which is how long. Processor speed isn’t the whole story. The M1 Max has 32 GPUs, twice as many as the 16 in Apple’s base MacBook Pro 16.
This is the most GPU cores of any Apple M1 chip. If you played Total War: Warhammer II at a high resolution of 1080p, the M1 Max delivered an average of 115 frames per second (fps). This is how long it took Shadow of the Tomb Raider to run at 1080p and the best setting. We tested Dell’s XPS 17 with the RTX 3060 from Nvidia. Dell’s XPS 17 is a long way behind in both. Eighty fps played Total War, and 59 fps played “Tomb Raider.”
Apple’s mini-LED screen makes OLED look bad

Almost everything about Apple’s new MacBook Pro 16 M1 Max was a big hit with us!
If you buy a high-end Windows laptop, you’re likely to get an OLED screen. But Apple goes a different way with the MacBook Pro 16. (and MacBook Pro 14). It uses a mini-LED, with thousands of small LEDs that light up the display. Two thousand five hundred fifty-four zones can be brightened or dimmed independently. Apple calls it Liquid Retina XDR, and it has a screen that looks like liquid.
This isn’t as precise as OLED, where each pixel’s brightness is unique, but it’s close enough to have the same benefits. The result is a rich and deep picture, with convincing shadows and great detail. Having a resolution of 3456 by 2234 makes it look very good. That means there are 254 pixels per inch on the screen, which is a lot better than the 220 pixels per inch on previous MacBook Pros. On the other hand, Windows’ rivals usually have a 4K OLED screen option, which gives them a better chance.
The best thing about the Liquid Retina XDR display is how good it is at HDR. Apple says the brightness can reach 1600 nits in HDR highlights, which are small parts of the screen that get a lot of brightness, like a sunrise or a field of stars. My eyes say that Apple’s Liquid Retina XDR screen is better than OLED and edge-lit LED screens.
The picture can be amazing in a good HDR movie, like Avengers: Endgame. The same is true of games that can run in HDR. There are no Windows laptops on the market today that look as bright, punchy, or vivid as the one I have. There is a middle ground: blooming. As small, bright objects move through a dark scene with the Pro 16, you might see a halo of light around them. A dark room is where I thought it was most visible. It’s not that way at all!

The XDR display also has an improved 120Hz refresh rate for smooth animation and movement, which is better than the standard 60Hz refresh rate. When you use multi-touch gestures or keyboard hotkeys to flip through open windows and apps, the difference is small but noticeable. Windows laptops also have high refresh rates, but they don’t feel as smooth in real life. Most OLED screens have a refresh rate of 60Hz, and most have a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Is it worth it?

A star is always a star. The MacBook Pro 16 is great in every way that counts. It has a long battery life, a good screen, and good performance for its size. If you want a computer with a good keyboard and a good touchpad, this one’s for you! Everything about this new MacBook Pro 16 is better than the 2019 one .
Apple’s move from Intel to its custom chips also opened up a whole new world of apps used on Macs. However, most apps made for Intel-powered Macs still work on other Macs. Apple’s cloud services work well with macOS. This makes it great if you already have an iPhone.
The Windows alternatives, such as Dell’s XPS 17 and Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Extreme, are often less expensive and have cheaper entry-level models for people who don’t have a lot of money to work with. Still, the MacBook Pro 16 is a good deal all around. It has better implementation and battery life than the different phones. In that case, it won’t help. Don’t allow the cost to scare you away, though. The 16-inch MacBook Pro is worth the money it costs.

Mac Mini Vs iMac 24-Inch: Which Is The Better Choice For You?
Apple’s new products are easier and harder to tell apart than ever before because most of them run on the M1 processor. This means that the choice mostly comes down to price and features. If you want to use a Mac OS desktop, the choice is even more difficult because Apple has so many different options.

Do you want (or need) to have a great screen and a great sound system in a simple package? Or do you want a simple computer that’s powerful enough to run all your favorite apps? Today, we look at the 24-inch iMac with the M1 chip and the Mini with the M1 chip.
Speed and Performance
In both the 24-inch iMac and the Mini, the M1 processor, which is very efficient, is used. This is the same chip that Apple used in their MacBooks. They both have the same amount of computing power at their core. Both run on Apple’s M1 processor, which is a lot faster than most laptops with midrange Intel or AMD processors. As long as you need a desktop PC to do a lot of work and a little bit of 3D, like with Adobe Creative Cloud software, you should be fine with either of the two Mac desktops.

However, there are some differences in how well they work. The base 24-inch iMac doesn’t have as many graphics processing units as the Mini, but it’s still better than the Mini (7 cores versus 8 cores). This missing core doesn’t make much difference in real-world applications, like World of Warcraft on medium settings. But if you use your computer a lot for graphics-heavy programs, it could slow down your work.

The Mini and iMac also have different cooling systems, but both are more than enough for the powerful processor. The Mini has a single lover in a big case that gives the processor a lot of space to work. Meanwhile, the Macs fans have to push the air away from the processor in a very thin shape. The M1 processor is efficient in that the lovers almost still stay quiet in both cases. This is because the processor is so powerful.
A port or a feature

This means both Macs can use Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6. You don’t have to worry about having a fast, wireless connection to your internet and any other needed devices. Because they both have the same processor, they can both run the same software on the same screen. Each computer can run one 6K resolution screen at 60Hz and one 4K resolution screen at 60Hz simultaneously. From there, things start to get a little different, starting with the ports.
You likely care about how many ports your computer has. With its small size, the Mini has many ports. It has two Thunderbolt 3 ports, USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Ethernet. The base 24-inch iMac only has two Thunderbolt 3/USB 4 ports and a headphone jack. The $1,499 model has an Ethernet port and two more Thunderbolt / USB 3 ports.
However, considering the other features and accessories that come with both machines, the Mini’s advantage fades away. The Mini is small enough to fit in a backpack as a laptop. It’s also smaller than a laptop, so it doesn’t take up a lot of space on your desk.

Adding the Magic Mouse and Keyboard to your computer is a great way to add useful features like swiping and Touch ID to your computer. There is a 24-inch all-in-one Mac: a computer, a screen, and speakers all in one. In addition, it comes with the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad, which are all made of aluminum and match your iMac’s color scheme.
They also come pre-paired with your iMac so that you can use them wirelessly right away. Because the iMac also comes with a 1080p webcam, you can make video calls and stream. No webcam is built into the Mini, so you can’t use it to take videos.
iMacs are better than Minis because they have great displays and sound systems. This is why the iMacs are better than the Minis. If you buy a Mini without a screen, you can’t see it. The speaker is small and tiny. There’s also the iMac’s 4.5K Retina display. It’s very bright, has a wide color range, and is great for film fans and visual designers.
Similar-quality screens can cost a lot, so putting them on a Mini and adding a screen would already cost more than a Mini and an iMac. Meanwhile, the bottom lip of the iMac has a lot of speakers that give a rich, detailed sound that’s great for listening to movies or music.
Price
The mini is a cheap desktop computer with a small footprint that is easy to move around. For how powerful it is, the Mini is a great deal. When the Mini first came out, it cost $699. These days, it can be found for as little as $600 when it goes on sale. Because it’s so cheap, you’ll have to buy your monitor and keyboard as well as mouse and speakers to use it, but that’s not a bad deal.
A lot of money can be saved by buying the Mini and accessories as good as those that come with the iMac. For example, an HDR10-certified 4K display and a premium wireless keyboard/mouse bundle can cost as much as the iMac does to buy. You can start with the iMac for $1,299. A MacBook Pro 13 costs about the same.

All-in-one desktops cost more, but they’re also easier to use. They come with a high-quality keyboard, mouse, trackpad, an extra loud sound system, and an all-in-one screen with a good color gamut. It also only takes five minutes to put an iMac together out of the box and make it look good enough to be a piece of decor in your home. However, the $1,499 model is worth it if you can afford it. It has more ports and a weaker graphics processor than the base model.
The winner is…
Most people should buy a Mini because it’s the best for a cheap home computer, but not everyone. For $699, you get a small PC with a powerful M1 chip. A $1,299 iMac would cost you hundreds of dollars more, but if you don’t need anything else but an okay-priced monitor, you can still save a lot of money.

However, the iMac has a lot of value for people really into audio and video. It’s an all-in-one computer with a 4.5K resolution retina screen and high-end peripherals that make it a great family PC for both work and play.
One more graphics processing core makes the $1,499 model have a slightly faster graphics processor than the base Mini. The $1,299 Mini is the same as the $1,499 iMac for graphics processing. If you need a computer that can do a lot of work quickly and has a good screen for visual work, the iMac is also a good choice.
